Karen Sue Tucker

Karen Sue French Tucker went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Abbyshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by loving family.  Karen was born on July 21, 1942 in Addison, Ohio to the late James Albert and Marjorie Ellen French.  She attended Addison Elementary School and was a member of the Tin Band.  She was a 1960 graduate of Kyger Creek High School and a graduate of Holzer School of Nursing.  On August 8, 1964, she married Clarence A Tucker; and to this union were born two children, Melissa Sue (Brett) Hutchinson and Michael Thomas (Kristin) Tucker of Gallipolis, Ohio.  She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Marshall (Virginia) French of Villa Rica, Georgia and sister-in-law, Sandra Kail French of Westerville, Ohio.  Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashleigh (David) Penrod of Waverly, Ohio, Andrew Michael Tucker,  Kaylee Marie Tucker, and Caden James Tucker all of Gallipolis.  She was very influential in their lives.  She has one great granddaughter, Wrenleigh; beloved nephews, James Lance French of Montgomery, Ohio and John David French of Westerville Ohio; niece, Marsha Ellen French Hook of Villa Rica, Georgia; and several additional family members whom she loved.  She was preceded in death by a brother, James Albert French, Jr. and a granddaughter, Jenna Sue Hutchinson.  Preceding her in death were several brothers and sisters-in-law whom she loved.

Karen was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She served the Lord as a lifelong member of Bulaville Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, Ladies group leader, and song leader.  Karen was a devoted nurse to the children of Gallia County and surrounding areas, working at Holzer Medical Center for over 30 years on the Pediatric Unit.  After retirement from Holzer, she worked as a substitute nurse at Guiding Hand School for a short time period.  She was an active Gallia County 4-H Leader, serving many years.  Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Willis Funeral Home.  Calling hours are 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will be held at Bulaville Christian Church Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:30 am.  Services will be officiated by Reverends Alfred Holley and Bob Hood.  The Nurse Honor Guard of the Ohio Valley will open the service.  Pallbearers for Karen will be Marshall French, Lance French, John French, Andrew Tucker, Caden Tucker, Brett Hutchinson, and David Penrod.  The family would like to thank Abbyshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for helping us care for our loved one, Holzer Medical Center ER and 2 West, and Holzer Hospice Care for guiding us through the last days.
