Kenneth “Duck” Herbert Swain went home to The Lord Monday, December 2, 2013. Born October 30,1930, he was the son of the late Herbert and Oma (Cremeens) Swain. He was a retired special deputy for the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, operated an auction service for several years, as well as a furniture and boot store in Gallipolis. He was a member of Harvey Chapel Church in Leon, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joy A. (Layne) Swain, a granddaughter Haylee J. Swain, and five brothers, Wyman “Tom” Swain, Mervin Dale Swain, Denver “Dink” Swain, George Swain, and Jimmy Swain. He is survived by his wife Mary (Stover) Swain; one brother, Glen “Curly” Swain; three daughters, Tammy (Gary) Skinner, Dian (Ron) Fleming, and Dafney (Mike) Davis; six grandchildren, Adam (Corrine) Broyles, Sara Broyles, Amos (Corrie) Callahan, Amy Callahan, Tristin Davis, and Griffin Davis; three great-grandchildren, Anais and Jack Broyles and Addyson Callahan, and many friends and extended family. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Verlin “Sampy” Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Pallbearers will be Amos Callahan, Rick Pearson, Mike Davis, Randy Cox, Elmer Miller, and Jimmy Jordan.
