Larry M. Betz, 76, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident occurring in Gallipolis. Larry was born on November 26, 1945 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth H. and Mary Jean Cornell Betz. Larry was the Gallia County Auditor; he started as a Central Committee Member and then was appointed to the Gallia County Treasurer. He then was elected as County Auditor and has served the citizens of Gallia County for 32 years. He was a member of the Ohio Treasurers Association, Ohio Auditors Association, Gallipolis Shrine Club, Gallipolis Elks Lodge, Morning Dawn Masonic Lodge #7, VFW Post 4464, American Legion Post #27, Gallipolis Gun Club, NRA, NWTF, and Conservation Club. Larry was a former member of the Gallipolis Jaycees where he served as president and helped raise money for the first Jaws of Life for Gallia County. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Tripler General Hospital. Larry was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School and the Elkhart University of Dental Technology. He was also the owner and operator of LM Betz Dental Lab. Larry is survived by two daughters, Angie (Jason) Betz-Liberati and Kim (Scott) Rayburn both of Gallipolis; five grandchildren, Cody Wandling, Jacob Ratliff, Madison Ratliff, Matt Liberati, and Makenna Rayburn; and two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Zayne Wandling. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul David Betz. The funeral service for Larry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. His burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Willis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. There will be a masonic service following the visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday.
