Larry A. “Doc” Eblen, 79, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his residence.
Born on May 23, 1943 in Pomeroy, Ohio, Larry was the son of the late Mahlon G. and Mary Elizabeth Hawley Eblen. Larry married Angela Rivetti Eblen, who survives him in Gallipolis. He retired from the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Larry was present on the USS Tallahatchie County (LST-1154) in battle readiness off the coast of Cuba. Larry was a member of the American Legion Point Pleasant, Elks Lodge, and Mason VFW Stewart Johnson Post of Mason, West Virginia. Larry worked as a steam engineer for OVEC Kyger Creek Plant and attended White Oak Baptist Church.
Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Angela Eblen; children, Mahlon Gerald Eblen of Florida and Mary Patricia Eblen of Florida; five grandchildren, Derek Eblen of Gallipolis, Ashley (Mark) Thomas of Livingston, Kentucky, Michael (Brittany) Eblen of Broadhead, Kentucky, Chandra Rogers of Pataskala, Ohio, and Misty Doyle of Orlando, Florida; six great grandchildren, Chase Rogers, Kymber Doyle, Hailey Thomas, Sadie Thomas, Serra Thomas, and Isaac Eblen; sister, Sandra (Bill) Thora; brother, Gerald “Red” Eblin; and special friends, Jimmy Davis, Dave Wooten, and Brian Tucker all of Gallipolis. Doc loved all his friends and family.
At this time, no services are being planned for Larry. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Oak Baptist Church, 1555 Nibert Road, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
