Leonard R. Rainey

Leonard R. Rainey, 81, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Arbors at Gallipolis. He was born on March 5, 1926 in Mason County, WV to the late Virginia Spears Rainey and Marion Waugh Rainey. He was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center where he was a supervisor. Leonard was a member of the River of Life United Methodist Church; a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed reading the Bible and doing crossword puzzles. He was the loving husband of Nancy Russell Rainey, whom he married on March 11, 1950 in Cheshire, Ohio and she survives in Gallipolis; beloved father of Paula Joshua DeWeese of Duluth, Georgia; beloved grandfather of Kara John Allen, Katie Ben Adkins both of Louisville, KY, Adam Rainey of Lexington, KY, Jackson DeWeese of Duluth, GA, Robbie Beaton of Lexington, KY, and Stephanie Mike Mehring of Louisville, KY; four great grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Aaron Allen, Maxwell Adkins and Elliott Adkins; Daughter-in-law Diana Ken Beaton of Shelbyville, KY, two brothers, Marion Doris Rainey of Nitro, WV, and Edward Ruby Rainey of Westminster, MD; special nieces Angela St. Clair of Gallipolis, and Deanna Powell of Bidwell. He was preceded in death by a son Paul L. Rainey in 1985, and by two sisters, Jo Ann Rainey and Linda S. Martin and by two sisters in infancy, and by his parents. Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Fisher officiating, burial will follow in Reynolds Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, April 9, 2007 from 6-8 pm at Willis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Adam Rainey, Robbie Beaton, Mike Hughes, Tony Hughes, Robert St. Clair, Jeremy Powell, Ken Beaton and John Allen.
