Louis E. Cox, Sr., 65, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on February 20, 1943 in Washington Court House, Ohio, son of the late Cary and Helen Siders Cox. He was a concrete finisher. Louis was a member of Faith Valley Baptist Church. Surviving are his three daughters, Verona Terry Johnson, Tammy Cox and Crystal Cox, all of Gallipolis; four sons, Curtis Janet Mumpower Cox of Gallipolis, Louis Samantha Cox of Columbus, Charles Kimberly Cox of Bidwell and Everett Scott of Germany; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; former wife, Shirley Cox of Gallipolis; stepson, Shane Helmandollar and stepdaughter, Shannon Flint, both of Gallipolis; one brother, Charles Gary Cox of Point Pleasant, WV; and one sister, Bonnie Blaine Bing of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Ernest, Woodrow, and Curtis Cox, one sister, Delores Cox and former wife, Julia Burgess. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Preston officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. The family will serve as pallbearers.
