Lucille Canaday

Lucille Waugh Canaday, 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, in Holzer Medical Center.  Lucille was born on February 3, 1940 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Denver Gardner and Anna Mae Shaffer Waugh.

Lucille attended Mercerville School and was a homemaker.  She also attended Bailey Chapel and Crown City Methodist Church.  Lucille was married to Carroll F. Canaday; and he survives her along with their children, Carroll Junior (Pamela) Canaday of Crown City, Ohio, Cathy (Elmer) Parsons of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Randy (Kim) Canaday of Gallipolis; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Randy) Roach of Manassas, Virginia, Chelsea (Josh) Lyall of Crown City, Ohio, Chandra Canaday of Crown City, Ohio, Brooke (Beau) Harrison, Lindsey Canaday, Jeremy (Emily) Parsons all of Gallipolis, Ohio, Tyler (Rosie) Canaday of Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia, Janelle (Scott) Donley of Thurman, Ohio, and Joshua (Robin) Parsons of Medina, Ohio; eighteen grandchildren, Caleb, Grace, Miles, Hudson, Asher, Brady, Brock, Blake, Bailey, Brant, Kayson, Emberlee, Olive, Braydon, Brentley, Callie, Hattie, Wyatt, and Hazel arriving soon; brother-in-law, Robert Masters of Gallipolis, Ohio; sister-in-law, Alma Canaday of Gallipolis, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Day, Betty Sheets, Polly Jackson, and Kathryn Masters.

The funeral service for Lucille will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Johnson officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Her burial will be in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Randy Canaday, Jeremy Parsons, Elmer Parsons, Scott Donley, Randy Roach, Chris Rathburn, Tyler Canaday, and Joshua Parsons.
