Lula Mae "Dudy" Adkins

Lula Mae “Dudy” Adkins of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center. Dudy was born Lula Mae Burns on November 18, 1934 to the late Jewett and Almeda Burns. She was preceded in death by her two brothers Roy and Ray Burns and sister Louise Sargent. She is survived by brother Larry (Mary) Burns. She was a 1953 graduate of Barboursville High School in Barboursville, WV. Dudy is also survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Oliver W. (Ollie) Adkins. She was preceded in death by son Randell Scott Adkins on September 25, 2011 whose wife Teresa survives. Also surviving are son Ronald Adkins (Bryan Gill) and daughter Tina (David) Russell. Grandchildren include Elizabeth (Matt) Shope, Christopher (Karrie) Adkins, Sara (Kyle) Deel, Kari (Michael) Anderson, Andrea (Jason) Jarvis and Tyler Adkins. Great grandchildren are Jacob and Ethan Shope, Logan, Lane and Lucy Mae Deel and Holden Jarvis. Special friends include Kim Adkins and Anita Turner. Dudy was a homemaker and avid crafter. She worked part time for over 25 years at the Gallipolis Auto Auction. She was the proud first mate of several boats named the “Du-Ti” docked at the Gallipolis Boat Club for 50 plus years. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral service will be at Willis Funeral Home on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Bob Powell officiating.
