Mae Belle Pope

March 6, 1919 — March 9, 2009

Mae Belle Massie Pope went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 9, 2009 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born March 6, 1919 in Lecta, Ohio to Marcus and Nola Massie. She was married to Woodrow Pope and to this union was born two sons. Mae Belle is survived by her sons, Donovan Leota Pope and Phillip Mary Pope, both of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren, Cynde Alan Kuhn, Tande Jim Rose, Bob Jennifer Foster, Joe Melinda Foster, Amanda Stuart Thompson, Amy Stoney Johnson and Chad Deanna Pope; twelve great grandchildren, Jody Morgan, Brandon Montgomery, Jordan and Beau Johnson, Erin and Evan Pope, Taylor, Megan, Mandy and Morgan Foster, Rhett and Alaina Thompson and one sister, Wanda Withrow of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, Woodrow, Mae Belle was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice McMahan. Many family, friends and neighbors were able to fellowship together on Saturday, March 7th for a celebration of Mae Belle's 90 years of life. Those who knew Mae Belle best are aware of how she loved to feed others. The family would like to request that you help us feed our community by donating your food and/or monetary in lieu of flowers to a local food pantry of your choice in honor of Mae Belle. Due to the recent celebration of life, a private graveside service will be held at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens for the family.
