Margaret Louise Myers

Margaret Louise Montgomery Myers, 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Arbors at Gallipolis.

On July 26, 1939, Margaret was born to the late John Monroe Montgomery and Bonnie Irene Phillips Montgomery.  She was born in Eblin Hollow in Ohio Township, Gallia County, Ohio.  Margaret was the second child in a family of seven children.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Jerry Allen Myers; her parents, John and Bonnie Irene Montgomery; sisters, Francis Phillips, Jeanie Branham, and Faye Allen;  and brothers, Robert “Buddy” Montgomery, Jerry Montgomery, and Howard Montgomery.

She is survived by her three children: son, John Myers (Mary Beth), daughter, Donna Kessel (Jim), and son, Ronnie Myers (Patti); six grandchildren: Whitney Hayes (Brian), Kris Myers (Jessica), Elizabeth Stutler (Scott), Jodi Davis (Kyle), and Logan and Grace Myers; and seven great grandchildren.

Margaret’s greatest love was for God, her family, and her friends.  She was so kind and caring to everyone that she met.  She always made everyone welcome in her home.  Margaret was known for her amazing meals and desserts, especially her Rhubarb pie and apple and blackberry cobblers.  She spent hours canning produce from the garden that her husband Jerry and she labored over every summer.  She also helped process many cows and deer over her lifetime.  Margaret also had a passion for collecting Depression glass and various old dishes at flea markets- beautiful pieces that have been passed down to her three children.  She also loved going to the Longenberger Homestead to buy the newest basket every year, quite a collection over the years.  Margaret also had a passion for Genealogy.  She spent hours researching her family’s and her husband’s family history.  Margaret also loved to travel to visit family wherever they were across the country.

Margaret originally worked as a seamstress in her younger years while staying home to raise her family.  Later, she worked and retired from the Gallipolis Welfare Department.

We owe our many thanks to the staff at Arbors at Gallipolis for their love, care, and compassion over these past four years.  They treated our mom like one of their own family members.  Her family will always be grateful.

The funeral service for Margaret will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Young officiating.  Friends may call prior to the service Friday from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  The Graveside Service for Margaret will be will held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
