Marian B. Smith

Marian B. Smith, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Holzer Medical Center. Marian was born on March 13, 1927 in Gallipolis to the late Charles M. and Marjorie F. Perkins Bane. She was a 1949 graduate of The Ohio State University and a retired teacher. She attended Elizabeth Chapel Church and Faith Baptist Church. For nearly sixty years she was married to Carroll C. Smith and he survives her. Also surviving are six children; a daughter Susan C. Chris Evans of Gallipolis, five sons; Stephen L. Patty Smith of Gallipolis, Bruce C. Ruth Smith of Springfield, Christopher G. Smith and Craig G. Grace Smith both of South Korea, and Scott A. Donna Smith of Gallipolis; eight grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Levi Canterbury, Clay Smith, Jenny Smith, Ian Evans, Caroline Evans, Andrea Smith and Reese Smith; a brother Richard “Dick” Juanita Bane of Gallipolis, several nieces and nephews. A special friend Leah Navarro also survives. Marian was preceded in death by a son Brian Smith in 1967 and by her father Charles M. Bane in 1988 and by her mother Marjorie Bane in 1990. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Willis Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 6-8 pm. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
