Martha Lou Smith

Martha Lou (Brumley) Smith, 79, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2025.

Martha was born on February 22, 1945 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.  She married the love of her life, John R. Smith, on August 18, 1967.  John and she resided their entire married life in Gallipolis where they lovingly raised their family.  Martha loved her Lord and Savior.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, spending time with God in prayer, offering words of comfort to those in need, and sharing her delicious meals, as well as enjoying and sharing a good cup of coffee.  She was an amazing caregiver, wife, sister, mother, grandma, cousin, aunt, daughter, and friend.

Martha leaves behind her daughters, Angela Williamson and Kelly (Jared) Vernon, both of Gallipolis; granddaughters, Mallory Alderigi and Whitley Sigman; great-grandchildren, Stella Gordon, Paige Myers, Owen Myers, and Damien Myers; countless beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her dog, Marco.  Martha was preceded in death by her other half, John R. Smith; her mother, Mildred Brumley; her father, Ray Brumley; her sister, Leota Pope; and her brother, William Howard Brumley.

As per Martha’s wishes, a graveside funeral service and burial will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Randy Smith officiating.  Services are under the direction of Willis Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Martha’s cherished nephews and great-nephews.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
