Mary Katherine Long

Mary Katherine (Waugh) Long, 88, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2013 while at the home of her daughter and surrounded by her family. Mary was born April 16, 1925 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Poe and Edith Chandler Waugh. She was married to Grover Long on June 19, 1944 and he preceded her in death. She retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center in June, 1983 with 25 years of service. She attended the First Church of God for many years. Mary is survived by daughters, Edith (Mike) Stout, Denise (Mike) Null, and son-in-law, Marlyn Haner, all of Gallipolis; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janet Waugh and a niece, Kathy Waugh, both of Gainesville, Georgia. In addition to her parents and husband, Grover Long, she was preceded in death by a son Richard Long, a daughter Penny Haner, stepmother Marjorie Waugh, brothers Leonard and Paul Waugh, an aunt Elizabeth Manering, and brothers-in-law Forest and Walter Long. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Voss and Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Entombment will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Chapel of Hope Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
