Mary Magdalene Mitchell

Mary Magdalene Mitchell, 88, of Gallipolis, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024. She was born June 20,1935 in Chocowinity, North Carolina, to Jack and Myrtie (nee Smith) Arnold. She graduated in 1973 from Ypsilanti High School. She was a loving wife and career homemaker who faithfully supported her husband’s U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve careers across four decades of his serving a-weekend-a-month and two-weeks-of-summer away.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence A. Mitchell Jr., whom she married on November 21, 1954. Left to mourn her are her sons Gary L. (Pam) Mitchell of Oberlin, Ohio and David W. (Tina) Mitchell of Gallipolis; grandsons David K., David L. and William; granddaughters Tegan (Matt) Coffman, Jennifer Mitchell, Triston (Thaddeus) Thompson and Mara Mitchell; and eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by brothers Donald (Sandy) Parker of Madisonville, TN, and Edwin (Donna) Parker of Pahrump, NV, and sister Artie (Michael) Crepeau of Lunenburg, MA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Helen Marie Sloan (Jim) and brother Jack Arnold, both of Midway City, CA, and brother James (Linda) of Kyle, TX.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Willis Funeral Home with Evangelist Carroll Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
