Melvin Lee Church

Melvin Lee Church, 77, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Scenic Hills Care Center. He was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center, a former school bus driver, a member of the Providence Baptist Church; and U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict Veteran. He was born on November 2, 1930 in Gallia County, Ohio son of the late William and Ethel Brumfield Church. He was married to Sharon Sanders on October 21, 1962 in Gallipolis, Ohio. Surviving are his wife Sharon Church of Gallipolis, a daughter Stephanie Kevin Riggs of Gallipolis, two sons William 'Willie' Tammy Church of Gallipolis and Pat Church of Vermont; a son-in-law Mark Cummons of Gallipolis; 11 grandchildren Scottie Courtney Cummons, Brittani Cummons, Nathan Cummons, Kindra Riggs, Kevin Riggs, Jr., Mark Church, Tori Church, Nathan Stevens, Katie, Lindsey and Erica Church; two great granddaughters, Kaylee Jo McBrayer and Sadie Lynae Cummons, two sisters Imogene Church and Irene Church both of Gallipolis and one brother Edward Dow Doris Church of Gallipolis; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Loreda G. Cummons in 2007, and a brother Charles in infancy. Services will be 1 PM Friday February 15, 2008 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Mark Beaver and Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Willis Funeral Home from 5-8 pm. Pallbearers will be Willie Church, Mark Cummons, Scottie Cummons, Nathan Cummons, Kevin Riggs, and Tim Beaver.
