Merrill Freddie Cox, 71, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1938 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Floyd D. and Claris Ann Halley Cox. He married Linda Lou Thompson Cox and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1998. He was a former cab driver and he enjoyed his family. Surviving are his two daughters, Michelle Renee Cox of Gallipolis and Kimberly Dawn Kevin Cox Prisque of Zanesville; three sons, Christopher Michael Cox and Shawn Matthew Cox, both of Gallipolis, Codie Lee Glenn of Jackson; five grandchildren, Michael Lee Cox, Christopher Kenneth Cox, Aryan Matthew Cox, Devan James Prisque, Alexis Raelynne Prisque; and a granddaughter expected in March Peyton Dawn Prisque; two step grandchildren, Daulton Gary Prisque and Dylan Robert Prisque; five brothers, Hayward Lee Ann Cox and Floyd Janice Cox, both of Sandusky, Allen Cox , Warner Marlinda Cox and Charles Margie Cox, all of Gallipolis; four sisters, Grace Reel of Sandusky, Evelyn Don Wright, Alice Bing, Louella Hazelbaker, all of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents and wife, Linda Lou Cox, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Pauline Cox. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Mina Chapel Cemetery.
