Michael V. Bryant, 65, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his residence. Born on November 25, 1955 in Logan County, West Virginia, Michael was the son of the late John T. and Oleva Hainor Bryant. Michael married Polly Burger Bryant, who survives him in Gallipolis. He was a retired truck driver, who enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Michael is survived by his wife, Polly Bryant of Gallipolis; children, Danielle Bryant of Vinton, Ohio, Callie Bryant of Cadmus, Ohio; Eric (JoBeth) Bowcott of Gallipolis, and Jamie (Chris) Smith of Hawaii; grandchildren, Darian Peck, Tre, Makayla Bryant, Logan and Josie Bowcott, and Wilson, Nora, and Henry Smith; and brothers, Gary (Candy) Bryant of Bidwell, Ohio, Dale (Sherry) Bryant of Florida, and Greg (Cindy) Bryant of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Bryant. For the past ten years, Michael struggled to walk. He was not able to ride horses, four-wheelers, drive, or dance—all things he loved. Michael is riding and dancing again in heaven. Being patient was not one of his strong points. If I didn’t get him picked up after surgery fast enough, he would meet me in the parking lot in his wheelchair. Still, Michael had a big heart. If he loved you, it was a great feeling. Michael loved me dearly. He loved my children and our grandchildren. Michael loved Eric. He loved watching Eric tinker on his pulling truck and fixing up farm equipment. His advice was priceless. His best buddy and partner in crime was Logan (our grandson and Eric’s spitting image). They always made each other smile and especially loved all things tractor. The little moments we shared with him are as meaningful as the big ones. Michael enjoyed sitting in the kitchen and supervising our cooking. He had his spot at our island counter. He enjoyed peeling and taught Josie how much “better” peeled apples were with salt. Michael loved Jamie. He loved the adventures her family would take and would have her routes planned on every move they have ever made. (Right now, they are in Hawaii.) Michael loved the guitar. Wilson (Jamie’s oldest) sent videos of him playing to brighten Michael’s day. Nora (her daughter) sent a video of her playing the piano, and Henry sent videos of catching geckos, chicken, and surfing. He enjoyed seeing them grow and how much they all love the water. Michael loved his fur buddies, Tinker and Izzy. Tinker will miss cuddling by his side. Michael could make a room fill with laughter. He had a remarkable memory. He could help guide every route you needed to drive from the east coast to the west and the north to the south. Stories were better with Michael telling them. In his days, he shared stories with his dearest friends and told them how much he loved them. The stories and memories they share are unforgettable. Most importantly, in these past months, Michael gave his life to Christ. He kept saying he was ready to go and had no regrets. Michael was concerned about Covid and did not wish to have any services at this time. When the weather is warmer, and it is safer to gather in groups, we would like to honor him by having a cookout. We will tell stories and remember all the joyful times. I would like to thank Hospice for their special care. Bionka, Michael’s nurse, your talent, patience, kindness, and ability to watch over him in his final days will always be appreciated. My dear husband, I will love you forever. You will be missed by all who loved you. Ride high and rest in peace, my dear, until we meet again. Friends and family, please join us in celebrating Michael's life on Sunday, July 11, 2021, from 1-3 pm at the Elks Farm, 5324 State Route 588. There will be food, drinks, and many memories shared.
