Nina Dorton

Nina Dorton, 97, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Arcadia Nursing Center, Coolville, Ohio. She was born August 2, 1912 in Gallia County, daughter of the late James and Pearl Houck Hazlett. Nina married Ambrose Dorton on July 15, 1930 in Jackson, Ohio and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1967. She retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center in 1966 after 37 years of services and retired from Holzer Medical Center in 1982 after 14 years of service in the Food Service Department. Nina lived most of her life in Gallia County before moving to Little Hocking to reside with her sister Peggy Fisher. Most recently Nina spent several years at the Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, Ohio. Nina is survived by her sister Peggy Fisher who provided loving care and support for her. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ambrose Dorton, three brothers, Vickers Hazlett, Robert 'Bob' Hazlett and Russell Hazlett, and two sisters, Grace Sheets and Sarah Belle Hazlett. Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating.
