Omar E. “Junie” Baker, 91, of Wilkesville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his residence. Born on April 16, 1931 in Gallia County, Ohio, Omar was the son of the late Edwin N. and Dortha E. Myers Baker. Omar was a retried State Inspector of Highways and Bridges for the State of Ohio. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Omar was a member of the American Legion Wilkesville, VFW Post 9092 Wellston, and Masonic Lodge Wilkesville. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Omar is survived by his daughter, Charlena K. Laney of Franklin, North Carolina; son, Kevin L. Baker (Sonya) of Wilkesville; stepdaughter, Alisha (Jose) Naranjo of Wilmington, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Odella Taylor of Bidwell, Ohio; brothers, Gerald J. Baker of Grove City, Marlin F. (Janet) Baker of Patriot, Richard A. (Barbara) Baker of Patriot, and Jefferson N. (Pat) Baker of Patriot; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Omar was preceded in death by two wives, Melanie Baker in 1994 and Elizabeth Baker in 2019; a son, Brian Keith Baker in 1967; a sister, Kathryn Martini; and three brothers, Charles Kitchen, Joe Baker, and Hobart L. Baker. The funeral service for Omar will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Willis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Flagsprings Cemetery.
