Opal Geneva Mcguire

January 5, 1920 — June 17, 2008

Opal Genevieve 'Geneva' McGuire, 88, went to sleep in the Lord at her home in Chesapeake, Ohio on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, to await her eternal resurrection with Jesus. She was born January 5, 1920 in Cabell County, WV, daughter of the late Garland and Murmel Bryant Mathews. Opal married Enos Francis McGuire and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1987. She had been a school cook at Mercerville, OH and in Florida and a Supervisor II Nursing Assistant at Gallipolis State Institute. Opal was also a member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting. She was a wonderful mother to Francis W. McGuire of South Point and Patrecia 'Patty' Lawrence Gray of Leon, WV; a loving grandmother to Keith A. McGuire of Chesapeake, Brendon McGuire Touchton, of Florida, Robin C. Gray Harbrecht of Pt. Pleasant, WV, Melinda L. Gray Goracke of Kansas City, KS, twins, Kevin McGuire and Karen McGuire Moore of Chesapeake, Mary A. Gray Lingle of Overland Park, KS, Tommy McGuire and Donnie McGuire of Florida. She had 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas and Garland Jr. Mathews, both of Frostproof, FL and three sisters, Virginia Merritt and Ruth Johnson, both of Frostproof, FL and Helen Bluemal of Adkinsville, NC. In addition to her parents, Garland and Murmel Mathews and husband, Enos McGuire, she was preceded by a son, Ray Thomas McGuire in October, 2007 and two brothers in infancy. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Jeff Reed and Berkley Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
