Paul J. Plymale, 71, of Gallipolis, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 after a long illness with cancer. Born on July 16, 1940 in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John Matt and Marjorie Hall Plymale. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Ellsworth and John Thomas Plymale. Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis M. Price Plymale; three children, Marcie Plymale, Barry (Amy) Plymale and Jody (Roger) Hall; one brother, Michael (Linda) Plymale; four grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) Bowman, Joseph Plymale, Carita (Brandon) Williams, and Burgandi Plymale. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War Era, a volunteer Ombudsman of the Area Agency on Aging 7th District at Four Winds Nursing Facility, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 9 year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, a 24 year member of the Elks Lodge, and as a member of the Masonic Lodge he was a 32nd degree Honorary Mason. Paul was a Training and Development Coordinator of the USWA Local Union 14614 and a licensed OSHA and HAZMAT Construction Outreach Coordinator. And as a founder of the Steel Workers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR), he served as a director. He fully enjoyed the fellowship of being a member of the Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Home, 12 Garfield Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio. A Masonic service will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday evening immediately following the calling hours. The Funeral Service will take place Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church, 600 Second Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio with the Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Mound Hill Cemetery. There will be military honors at the graveside presented by volunteers of the military and area veterans lodges.
