Ralph E. Steinbeck, 60, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at his residence. Born on May 25, 1959 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Ralph was the son of Mary Catherine Rife Steinbeck Flood of Gallipolis and the late John Christian Steinbeck. On December 3, 1988, Ralph married Teresa Hall Steinbeck in Gallipolis. Ralph was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School Class of 1977. He was a former Chief of Police at Rio Grande. Ralph had worked for the Gallia County Sheriff’s Department, the Gallipolis City Police Department, and the EMS. He was a retired truck driver for Bob Evans and Leslie Small Trucking. Ralph was a member of Elks Lodge #107. He was a former 4-H advisor who enjoyed the Gallia County Junior Fair. Ralph enjoyed Tudors and Remo’s, two local Gallipolis businesses. Ralph is survived by his wife, Teresa Steinbeck of Gallipolis; daughters, Brittany (Drew) Beman of Gallipolis and Breanna (Nolan) Lambert of Canal Winchester, Ohio; son, Brett A. Steinbeck of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Creedence and Rozalyn Beman and Garrett and Austin Lambert; mother, Mary Steinbeck Flood; sister, Karen (Greg) Hill of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia; brothers, Richard (JoAnn) Steinbeck of Flat Rock, North Carolina, Robert “Bobby” Steinbeck of Gallipolis, and James (Barbara) Steinbeck of Worthington, Ohio; stepbrother, Theodore (Carolyn) Flood of Athens, Ohio; stepsisters, Patricia (Gene) Woolum of Jackson, Ohio, Kay Gardner of Jackson, Ohio, and Terri (Joe) Potts of Oak Hill, Ohio; brother-in-law, Matt Hall (Karen) of Gallipolis; father-in-law, Danny Hall of Gallipolis; mother-in-law, Jackalene Lewis of Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Michaela and Mackenzie Hall. In addition to his father, Ralph was preceded in death by his stepfather, Theodore B. Flood. Due to the COVID-19 guidelines and regulations, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
