Randall M. Spencer, 76, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 at his residence. Randall was born on June 10, 1932 in Vinton, Ohio, son of the late Marvin H. and Sarah E. Berry Spencer. He was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center where he had been a nursing assistant. Randall was a U.S. Army Veteran; a member of the VFW Post 161 in Vinton; AMVETS, and the DAV. He also attended the First Church of God. Randall is survived by two daughters, Cindy Lahrmer of Chillicothe, Ohio and Carla Spencer of Waverly, Ohio; two sons Richard Joan Spencer of South Carolina, and Donald Joan Spencer of Garfield, Georgia; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Tom Cook Burnette, Virginia Russell, and Dorie Donald VanScoy all of Gallipolis, two brothers Roy A. Spencer of Richlands, NC and Pete Jean Spencer of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews survive. Randall was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty in 1991, and by a brother Gomer Spencer. Services will be 1 pm Monday, January 5, 2009 at Willis Funeral Home with Rev. James Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Willis Funeral Home on Sunday today from 6-8 pm. Pallbearers will be Donald Spencer, Charlie Spencer, Jimmy Arledge, Mike Russell, Scott Russell, and Boyd Burnette. Full military rites will be given at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran lodges.
