Regina C. Akers, 58, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at her residence. She was born October 6, 1949 in Cabell County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Lawrence S. and Gladys M. Porter Akers. Regina graduated from Southwestern High School with the Class of 1969. She was a former patient sitter at Holzer Medical Center and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Regina loved going to church. Regina is survived by a brother-in-law, Marlin Donna Wedemeyer of Gallipolis; three nieces, Sharon Tom Wooten of Murrell's Inlet, SC, Lisa David Burleson and Amy Wedemeyer, both of Gallipolis; one great nephew, Lawrence Wedemeyer of Gallipolis; and special friends, Molly and Lester Plymale of Gallipolis. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a sister, Joyce Wedemeyer on November 15, 2000. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Lusher and Tom Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Marlin Wedemeyer, Tom Wooten, David Burleson, Lawrence Wedemeyer, Steve Benson and Bill Venters.
