Darrell R. Johnson, 70, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Holzer Medical Center. Darrell was born on November 3, 1951 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Truman Johnson, Sr. and Lola M. Harper Johnson Holley. Darrell was a preacher, having pastored at Centenary Community Church for five years and served for 28 years as pastor of College Hill Church in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia. Darrell preached many revivals with his brothers in local churches in our area. Darrell also worked as a car detailer for Jim Mink and later for VanSickle Motors. He also was a truck driver for Thomas Do-It Center for seven years. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats Basketball fan and Ohio State Buckeyes football fan. Darrell also helped his wife Connie in providing daycare in their home for 30 years. Darrell was a Hannan Trace High School Class of 1969 graduate. On June 9, 1974, Darrell married Connie White Johnson; and she survives him in Gallipolis. He is also survived by great god children, Joel Searls, Caleb Searls, Lana Meadows, and Faye Meadows, all of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia; two brothers, Donnie (Vonda) Johnson and Truman (Rosemary) Johnson, Jr., both of Gallipolis; one sister, Sharon (Duke) Siders of Gallipolis; several beloved nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Beverly (Jim) Chapman of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Myers; one brother, David K. "Red Dog" Johnson; stepfather, Melvin Jack Holley; and grandparents, Margaret Johnson and Langley Johnson, Harry Harper, and Delta McCoy. The funeral service for Darrell will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Willis Funeral Home with Cathy Searls and Jessica Queen officiating. His burial will follow in Kings Chapel Cemetery.
