Rex H. Unroe

Rex H. Unroe, 88, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away at the home of his daughter on February 17, 2024 at 7:18 a.m.  He was born on March 18, 1935 in Gallia County, son of the late Harold and Virginia Miller Unroe.  Rex was a member of Dickey Chapel Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.  He worked for 27 1/2 years at Evans Packing Company.  Rex enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, and going to church.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed raising tobacco.

On July 24, 1954, Rex was united in marriage with Pauline Slone Unroe by the Rev. Earl Cremeans.  Pauline survives him in Gallipolis, along with four daughters with whom they were blessed, Roberta Fellure of Gallipolis, Connie (Jim) Swindler of Crown City, Janet (Ky) Rice of Gallipolis, and JoAnn (Bob) Browning of Red House, West Virginia; grandchildren, Tracy DeVault (Rob Mannon), Caty Fellure, Keaton (Gretchen) Rice, Eric (Ryann) Swindler, Judd (Melissa) Swindler, Ashley Unroe, and B.J. (Savanna) Browning; great grandchildren, Hannah Young, Bryson DeVault, Kayle Mannon, Braylee, Madison, and Mason Fellure, Tristin, Brantley, and Callen Swindler, Jalyn, Kyrie, and Kelly Rice, Paisley and Releigh Browning, and Wyatt and Jax Stover; and several nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia Unroe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shellio and Narie Slone; son-in-law, James Fellure; grandson, Trent Fellure; two great grandchildren, Payton Olivia Fellure and Peyton Isaac Browning; two brothers, Harry Jr. and Emerson Unroe; one sister, Eileen Willis; and two siblings in infancy.

The funeral service for Rex will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor J.R. Vance and Pastor Michael Parcell officiating.  His burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Willis Funeral Home.  Full military rites will be given at the cemetery by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.

Pallbearers will be Keaton Rice, Eric Swindler, Judd Swindler, Michael Parcell, Robbie Mannon, and B.J. Browning; honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons.
