Roger O. Taylor

Roger 'Spud' O. Taylor, 53, of Rio Grande, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his residence. He was born January 28, 1956 in Gallia County, son of the late Otis Burdell and Helena Simms Taylor. Roger was raised in the home of his aunt and uncle, John and Phyllis Taylor. John preceded him in death also. He was married to Marcella Nunn on March 21, 1981 and she survives him. He was a lab tech for the City of Gallipolis. Surviving are his wife, Marcella Taylor of Rio Grande; two sons, Shannon G. Brianna Taylor of Rio Grande and Travis Taylor of Charleston, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Elisha Taylor and Ethan Taylor; a special aunt, Phyllis Taylor of Gallipolis; a special cousin, Ellen Taylor of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two sisters and two brothers. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2009 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Pastor Richard Barcus officiating. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 4-6 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Shamblin, Paul 'Bub' Williams, Shannon Taylor and Dustin Nunn.
