Ronnie G. Smith

Ronnie G. Smith, 70, of Albertson, North Carolina, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville, North Carolina. He was born November 23, 1938 in Crab Orchard, West Virginia, son of the late Edward and Freda Asbury Smith. Ronnie was married to Charlotte Perry Smith and she preceded him in death in 1984. He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA. Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Hampton of Vinton and Sherry Smith of Gallipolis;one son, Ronnie Peggy Smith Jr. of Gallipolis Ferry, WV; seven grandchildren, Dustin McCombs, Natasha Smith, Tiffany and Kara McCormick, Brittany Smith, Brady Hampton, Kali Hampton; a sister, Lynda Edward Manders of Columbus; a brother, Robert Jacqueline Smith of West Milton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith of Strasburg, Virginia and a brother-in-law, Joe Plantz of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Plantz, Iris Whittington, Yvonne Baird and one brother, Edward Ray Smith. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie McCallister and Rev. David Washington officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service.
