Rosethel Thomas Tope

Rosethel Thomas Tope, 84, of Gallipolis, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Born June 18, 1923, Rosethel was the daughter of the late Luther and Ethel Thomas. She was a 1941 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and Bustin Beauty School of Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gallipolis. At one time she was the owner of a beauty shop in downtown Gallipolis and later after marriage, a partner in Tope's Furniture Galleries also downtown. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Earl E. Tope of Gallipolis; three sons and three daughters, Thomas E. Mary Tope, Jan Karen Bowman, David Alan Tope, all of Gallipolis, Peggy Ellen Mick Davenport of Pomeroy, Ohio , Elizabeth Ann Dr. Greg Tobin of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Timothy Scot Teri Tope of Worthington, OH; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Christopher Scot Tope, four brothers Tom, Leo, Roderick and Forrest Thomas; one sister Elizabeth Cloud and a sister-in-law Mildred Thomas Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Gallipolis with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery.
