Roy J. Spurlin

Roy J. Spurlin, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio, formerly of Lampasas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Post, Texas, son of the late Jerry and Susie Bingham Spurlin. Roy was a supply clerk in the Civil Service Division for the Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Roy was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ in Gallipolis, Ohio and served as an elder at Broad St. Church of Christ in Lampasas, Texas. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Roy was married to the late Margaret Ann (Elliott) Spurlin of Gallipolis, Ohio. Roy is survived by a son, Terry (Christi) Spurlin of Gallipolis, Ohio; grandchildren, Cole (Ciara Small) Spurlin of Patriot, Ohio and Erica (Wyatt) Hall of Proctorville, Ohio; great grandchildren, Henry and Samuel Hall of Proctorville, Ohio; and a sister, Stella Swafford of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Spurlin.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Willis Funeral Home, with the funeral service at noon, with Roy Wray officiating. A military service and his burial will follow in Flagsprings Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holzer Hospice in memory of Roy.
