Sheila Mae Watson

Sheila Mae Watson, 67, of Crown City, Ohio, passed away on April 19, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington WV.

Sheila was born February 14, 1958 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Vora “Buck” Waugh and Hazel Yvonne Waugh.

Sheila was a retiree of the Gallia County Local School System as a devoted teachers’ aide. Her passion later in life was to cherish her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a breast cancer survivor who embodied the grace of Christ her Savior while diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Today, she walks in perfect healing as her faith has now become sight. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gallipolis.

On May 10, 1975, Sheila married Steven Thomas Watson, who preceded her in death in 2014. Together, they lovingly raised two sons, JT (Crystal) Watson and Jacob (Adria) Watson, both of Crown City, OH and a nephew lovingly raised as a son, AJ (Rebecca) McDaniel of Nitro, WV, who survive her.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Kalob, Payden, Saul, Ezra, Amos, Gwen, Nora, and Hollis; great grandchildren: Rebelle and Kasper; and several nieces and nephews. Sheila is also survived by her mother-in-law, Beatrice Joyce Watson; two brothers, Bob Johnson and Phil Waugh; two sisters, Debbie (Gean) Watson and Shelby Waugh; and three brothers-in-law, Randy (Judy) Watson, Darin (Ardella) Watson, and Jason (Rebecca) Watson.

The Funeral Service for Sheila will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Victory Baptist Church of Crown City with Pastor Jacob Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Victory Cemetery. Friends and family may call prior to the service on Saturday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be JT Watson, AJ McDaniel, Kalob Watson, Phil Waugh, Darin Watson, and Jason Watson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Saul Watson and Ezra Watson.
