Shirley Lou Williams

June 16, 1937 — November 12, 2024

Shirley Lou Clary Williams, 87, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Heaven gained another beautiful soul, but not just any beautiful soul until our mother gained her wings on November 12, 2024.  Shirley Lou Clary Williams was born on June 16, 1937, daughter of the late Clarence B. and Nellie Watson Clary.  She could light up a room with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.  She always looked up to everyone.  However, don't let her short stature fool you; she was a spunky little lady.  She was a devoted and loving servant of God.  She treated everyone with respect and love, no matter who they were or what they may have done.  She never met a stranger, and you always walked away with the biggest and best hugs.  Her warm embrace could melt your heart.  This world was a better place with her in it.

Shirley is survived by her children, Charles McWhorter, Resa McWhorter Schaub, Jonathan "Jay" McWhorter, Tami McWhorter Holt, Kim (John) Elliott, Michael "Mick" McWhorter, Christopher Williams, and Nicole (Jake) Perry; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren, and one on the way; siblings, Norma Jean Brannen, Marion James Clary, and Edward Clary; several nieces and nephews; and a host of honorary family members too many to name.  In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William McWhorter in 1971; one son, Randy Clary Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Melinda Montgomery; grandson, Randall Clary; great granddaughter, Madison Holt; and siblings, Homer Clary, Bobby Clary, and Betty Clary Miller.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. Friends may call on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Her burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandson, Jason McWhorter, Jon McWhorter, Jared Swain, Web Swain, Colton Holt, Michael McWhorter, and Tre Craycraft.
