Smeltzer C. Rose

Smeltzer C. Rose, 91, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born April 19, 1919 in Northup, the son of the late Charles R. and Faye B. Smeltzer Rose. Smeltzer was married to Mary Frances Myers and she preceded him in death on July 23, 1994. He was a farmer and member of First Baptist Church in Gallipolis. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Janice Rose and Rick Bowersox of Dayton; a granddaughter and her husband, Beth and Ryan Riddell of Miamisburg, Ohio; a grandson and his wife, Brian Charles and Alexandra Bowersox of Miamisburg, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Tine Charles Riddell, Travis Ryan Riddell, Titus Eli Riddell and Jackson Charles Bowersox, all of Miamisburg; a sister, Helen Rose Steger of Groveport, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Smeltzer was preceded in death by his parents Faye and Charles Rose, his wife Mary Frances Myers Rose, and three sisters Dorothy Rose Carter, Lucille Rose Holdeman and Bea Rose Elliott. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Northup Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Chris Caldwell, Carlos Caldwell, Chip Caldwell, Mike Hemphill, David Murray, and Paul Duncan.
