The Rev. Wilbur C. Slack, 90, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1923 in Charleston, West Virginia, son of the late John Wesley and Elizabeth Ferrell Slack. Rev. Slack was married to Marceline “Mary” Gray Slack and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2013. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Merril’s Marauders. He was a retired Baptist minister and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving are one son, John Michael (Sandy) Slack of Gallipolis; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Goode of Beckley, West Virginia. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mary Slack, Rev. Slack was preceded in death by 3 daughters, Peggy Ann Starr, Debra Slack and Tammy Slack, 1 brother, 6 sisters, and 1 sibling in infancy. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Pritchard and Rev. Paul Pritchard officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum, Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon till 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
