Verna Gingerich, 82, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Ohio State University Medical Center, James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 16, 1927 in Kalona, Iowa, daughter of the late Eli and Ester Brenneman Yoder. Verna married Delmar Gingerich on November 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 2006. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Wesley Weds Sunday School class. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Charley Bodimer of Gallipolis; three grandchildren, Josh Kendra Bodimer of Bidwell, Jessica Bodimer of Lexington, Kentucky and Jake Bodimer of Gallipolis; one sister, Luella Yoder of Kalona, Iowa; two brothers, Raymond Yoder of North Richland, Texas and Wilbur Yoder of Sarasota, Florida. Verna was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and her husband, Delmar Gingerich, by five brothers, Marvin, Duane, Ivan, Lyle and Calvin Yoder and one sister, Eva Brenneman. A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church with Bob Powell officiating. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. According to Verna's wishes her cremains will be interred 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
