Violet E. Parsons, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Hospital, Pt. Pleasant,West Virginia. She was born March 11, 1932 in Mason County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Wiley and Betsy Crump Coleman. Violet married Franklin S. Parsons and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1987. She retired from the Gallia County Court House, where she worked in Maintenance Services for 11 years. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Groves and Debbie (Harold) Barcus, both of Gallipolis; her sons, James (Joyce) Parsons of Crown City, Clifford (Sandra) Parsons of Bidwell, Richard (Darlene) Parsons of Gallipolis and Randy (Tina) Parsons of Patriot; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby (John) Doss of Crown City and Betty Sias of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; and a special pet dog Buttons. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin S. Parsons, a sister Juanita and two brothers, Donald and Junior. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Willis Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.
