Virginia Irene Bloomer, 90, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Holzer Medical Center. She was born June 24, 1921 in Mason County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Oscar H. and Willa Frances Mourning Fry. Virginia was married to Haskell Bloomer and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1988. She was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was a homemaker. Virginia was a very active volunteer at the Gallia County Senior Citizen’s Center and won several awards there. She enjoyed quilting and loved flowers. Surviving are her daughter, Wanda (Ancil) Cross of Jackson; three sons, Delmar L. Bloomer of Bidwell, Darvin L. Bloomer and Donald L. Bloomer, both of Gallipolis; ten grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor West of Gallipolis; a brother, Lloyd Fry of Thurman; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Haskell Bloomer, Virginia was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Keith, five brothers Emory Dale, Theodore, Henry, Ernest and Edward Fry. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Old Pine Cemetery. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 6-9 p.m.
