William E. Brown, 88, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Holzer Medical Center.
Born on January 27, 1936 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Bill was the son of the late Thelma Evans Jackson. On April 20, 1957, Bill married Wilma Roush Brown; she survives him in Gallipolis. He worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation and was a self-employed painter. Bill was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School Class of 1955; he played football for GAHS. Serving as a past president, Bill was a member of the Gallia Academy Alumni Association. Bill was not only a member of Grace Methodist Church, but he was also a member of the church choir. He was an OSU fan, enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their activities, and enjoyed his pet dog Snoopy.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wilma Brown of Gallipolis; daughter, Kim (Tom) Duncan of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Jeff (Cindy) Brown of Salisbury, Maryland and Chris (Anna) Brown of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Willie (Siena) Brown, Josh Brown, Scarlet Brown, Kelsey Thompson, Shelby Brown, Dylan Brown, and Taylor Duncan; two great grandchildren, Liam and Eli; sisters, Janet (Wally) Rood and Donna McCoy; and brother, Gene (Susie) Jackson.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bill at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Grace Methodist Church with Pastors Kandy Nuce, Bill Thomas, Kimberly Thomas, and Ray Kane officiating. Friends may call prior to the service Monday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church. This date is special to the family; they would have been celebrating Bill’s 89th birthday, but they are celebrating his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gallia Academy High School Stadium Project, 2855 Centenary Road, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631-9129.
