William G. Devault

William G. DeVault, 88, of Gallipolis, died on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Arbors of Gallipolis. He was born on April 3, 1923 in Plymouth, WV the son of the late William and Della Pearl Craigo DeVault. He was married to Gertrude Johnson DeVault and she survives him. He retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center as a Cement Mason. He attended the Gallipolis Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude DeVault of Gallipolis; daughters, Janet (Ken) Schilling of Marietta, OH, Anita (Jeff) Merry of Gallipolis; a son, Keith (Linda) DeVault of Gallipolis; 12 grandchildren, Jackie (Mike) Ours, Krissy DeVault, Julie Merry, Amy (Shaun) Schilling, Willie DeVault, Jody (Andrew) Parson, Marie (Scott) Sawyer, Alex Schilling, Jamie Merry, Megan Schilling, Doug and Matthew Blair; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great grandson Jacob Ours, sisters, Anna Kerwood and Jerry Hager, brothers James DeVault and Woodrow DeVault. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Gallipolis Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Pastor Robert Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Wednesday July 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. There will be full military services at the graveside presented by members of area veterans lodges. Cemetery: Ohio Valley Memory Gardens Visitation: Willis Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 6-8 p.m. Service: Gallipolis Church of Christ in Christian Union, Thursday, July 7, 2011 1:00 p.m.
