William Paige Sheets

William Paige Sheets, 68, of Gallipolis, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at his residence. He was born on February 25, 1939 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late William G. and Opal Hineman Sheets. He was married to Lois Carter on October 24, 1964 in Gallia County and she survives him. Paige graduated from Waterloo High School and Rio Grande College and received his Masters Degree from Marshall University. He was a retired educator and Southwestern High School principal for many years. Paige was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Gallipolis American Legion Post 27. He enjoyed working, hunting and his grandchildren and family. Surviving him are his wife, Lois Carter Sheets of Gallipolis; two sons, Lynn Jo Anne Sheets of Gallipolis and Gene Pauline Avery Sheets of Ray, Ohio; two grandchildren, Mercedes Lynn Sheets and William Logan Sheets; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Lucille Carter of Cadmus; two brothers-in-law, Keith Carter of Patriot and David Wilson of Colorado; two nephews, William Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jay Carter of Gallipolis; two nieces, Kristy Carter of Tennessee and Joy Runyon of Columbus; two great nephews, Austin Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Matthew Runyon of Columbus and a great niece, Grace Runyon of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents William G. and Opal Sheets, one brother, Leland Sheets and one sister, Janice Wilson. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be William Wilson, Jay Carter, Keith Carter, Ed Slagle, Dennis McGuire, Lee Spears, Dan Davies and Jeff Lawless. There will be full military services at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges.
