William Gene Waugh, 78, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born November 22, 1932 in Gallia County, son of the late Amel Edgar and Lyla Beatrice Beaver Waugh. Gene is married to Rosalie Clary, who survives him. Gene left Gallia County at age 18, worked at Alcoa Aluminum in Cleveland as an oiler, hammer operator, and AA large press forger. He retired as a supervisor after 40 years and 3 months of service. He also farmed in Medina, Ohio returning to Gallia County in 1991. Gene was a member of Victory Baptist Church and UAW Local #1050 in Cleveland. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie Waugh of Gallipolis; one daughter, Diana (John) Metter of Litchfield, Ohio; a son, Donald (Janice) Waugh of Medina, Ohio; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Bill (Mary Lou) Waugh of Warren, Ohio, Amel (Judy) Waugh and Merrill Richard (Della) Waugh, both of Crown City; six sisters, Mary Lou (Harold) Curry of San Jose, California, Inez (Jimmy Dale) McGuire, Beatrice Bee (Bob) Johnson and Fern Mooney, all of Crown City, Karen (Dean) Brownell of Gallipolis and Connie (Bill) Johnson of Crown City; a sister-in-law, Verbie Waugh of Crown City; his mother-in-law, Lona Tunnie Clary of Crown City; special companion Jonda and special friends from the Sycamore Wrinkle Club. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers John Lee Waugh and Harlan Bub Waugh, a brother-in-law Hollis Mooney, a sister-in-law Emmagene Waugh and his father-in-law Floyd Clary. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
