Alberta Ely

Alberta Ely, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Holzer Medical Center. She was born on September 15, 1924 in Bidwell to the late Cecil E. and Genevieve Jones Price. Alberta was married to Wesley R. Ely and he preceded her in death in 1981. She operated the Green Gables until 1969. She was a member of Bulaville Christian Church. Surviving is her daughter, Shari Joe Tipton of Columbus; two grandchildren, Michelle Bill Simms and Jeremy Karrie Sands, both of Columbus; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Ann Mullins and Phyllis Paul Plymale, both of Gallipolis; a brother, Ray E. Chloris Price of Marion; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her parents, her husband, Wesley R. Ely, two sisters, Frances Lou Rife and Jean Noble, and five brothers, Bob, Carroll, Harold Keith, Jack and William Price. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley and Pastor Joe Rife officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2006. Pallbearers will be Dave Rife, Gary Tenney, Chris Pennington, Keith Mayo, Barry Plymale, Mike Mullins, Hollie Johnson, and Daniel Tenney. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenny Johnson.
