Doris L. Duke

Doris L. Duke, 70, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday March 15, 2011 at the Holzer Medical Center. She was born on September 17, 1940 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Asa and Marjorie Margie Williams Bevan. Doris was married to Larry G. Duke and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2011. Doris was also preceded in death by a son Gene Allen Duke on July 2, 1992; a brother James Bevan; and by her parents. Doris was a LPN retiring from the Gallipolis Developmental Center with thirty years of service. She was a member of the Womens Bowling League, member of the O.E.S. Lodge # 283 and enjoyed crocheting. She is survived by one daughter, Diana (Gail) Drummond of Bidwell, two sons Larry E. Bubby (Carla) Duke and Jim Lee (Brenda) Duke both of Gallipolis, 9 Grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; one brother Oral Ray (Georgia) Bevan of Crown City; a sister-in-law Marva (Basil) Bailey of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 am Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Willis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Basil Bailey, Gail Drummond, Richard Northup, Delbert Duke, Josh Meeker and Tom Walters.
