Dorothy Baird, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 2, 1934 in Crown City, daughter of the late Oak and Maude Walters Day. Dorothy was married to Marvin “Wayne” Baird and he preceded her in death in September of 1978. She was co-owner of Gallipolis Auto Wrecking for 30+ years. Surviving are six children, Mike (Brenda) Baird, Phil (Tanya) Baird, Charles (Bibber) Baird, all of Gallipolis, Hope Armstrong of Tennessee, Patty (Tom) Sims of Camden, Ohio, and Gail Baird of Gallipolis; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; two siblings, Bud (Louise) Day of Columbus, Ohio and Katie Haught of Marion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Wayne Baird, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Carl Day, Gene Day, Dan Day, Sarah Layne, and Opal Dorosis. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor James L. Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Campaign Cemetery.
