Marinelle P. Jeffers, 90, of Patriot, Ohio passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
Born on June 23, 1933 in Gallia County, Ohio, Marinelle was the daughter of the late Edward and Bonnie (Taylor) Parkins. In addition to her parents, Marinelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Jeffers; son, Donnie Jeffers; siblings, Earl (Pat) Parkins and Mildred (Dave) Harris; and brother-in-law, Bruce Buchan.
Marinelle is survived by her children, Steve (Joy) Jeffers of Cincinnati, Ohio, Beth (Bob) Ruff of Patriot, Ohio, and Jim (Lori) Jeffers of Jackson, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Christina) Jeffers, Dr. Amy Jeffers (Paul Huhtala), Annah Ruff (Lucy Quirk), Molly Ruff (Ben Hupp), and Tyler, Justin, and Brad Jeffers; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Joann Buchan.
Marinelle grew up on a farm in rural Gallia County. She attended Rio Grande College and Ohio University, receiving a Master of Science in Education. Marinelle married Leon Jeffers on June 13, 1953. She was a teacher for 32 years, teaching in Woodbridge, Virginia and Gallia County Local Schools. Marinelle retired from teaching in 1993. Her hobbies included gardening, floral art, and sewing.
The funeral service for Marinelle will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Timothy Waugh officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Friends and family may call prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marinelle’s name to Salem Cemetery Fund, c/o Frank Franton, 7 Boggs Road, Patriot, Ohio 45658.
