Michael J. Williams, 62, of Patriot, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at his residence. He was born October 28, 1946 in Huntington, West Virginia, son of the late James Williams and Aurelia Bryan Williams, who survives him. He was married to Patricia Russell on September 13, 1985 and she survives him. Michael was a graduate of Southwestern High School and Ohio State Andrews Barber College. He was a barber and owner of Michael and Friends Hair Care Centre, which was established March 13, 1981. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat Action Ribbon. Michael was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the NRA. Surviving him are his wife, Patricia Williams of Patriot; two daughters, Michelle Whitt and Tosha Alexander of Patriot; a granddaughter, Cameron Whitt of Patriot; his mother, Aurelia Williams of Gallipolis; a brother, Charles Chris Williams of Gallipolis; three sisters, Janie Clovis Elkins of Patriot, Leona Danny Dean of Carroll, OH and Robin George Shamblin of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, James Williams, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Mary Williams. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Willis Funeral Home with Monsignor William Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. There will be full military honors by volunteers of local veteran's organizations. Pallbearers will be Bob Burlile, Chris Brown, Terry Lakin, Jim Cochran, John Ehman, and Jim Blair.
