Thomas “Tom” Jefferson Montgomery, 84, of Crown City, passed away at Abbyshire Place on Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was born on May 9, 1928 in Gallia County, son of the late James and Rose Walters Montgomery. Tom married Beverly Cullip Montgomery and she survives him. He was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a member of VFW 4464 and American Legion Post 27. Tom was a farmer and enjoyed selling vegetables. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Montgomery of Crown City; one son, Paul (Connie) Montgomery of Crooksville, Ohio; three grandchildren; two stepsons, Shannon “Toby” Ault and Gerald Todd (Tammy) Ault, all of Springfield, Ohio; brother-in-law, Fred Cullip of Springfield, Ohio; sister-in-law, Virginia “Katie” Montgomery of Crown City, Ohio; and a special friend, Jim Twiggs of Springfield, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by brothers Everet, James, Carl Austin, and Thurman Lee Montgomery, a sister Jane McGuire, and a half sister, Helen Thompson. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Monday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. There will be full military graveside services by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
